Information

IKO B4 Big End Needle Cage designed for installation in the connecting rod big end between the connecting rod and crankshaft crankpin. The cage contains 16 precision-selected needle rollers and is designed for the extremely high loads and engine speeds found in racing engines.

This version features B4 tolerance and a roller diameter of Ø2.994 mm. The rollers are 0.002 mm smaller than the Ø2.996 mm rollers used in the B2 version and therefore provide slightly greater running clearance when the crankpin and connecting rod dimensions remain identical.

Choosing between B2, B4 and B6 is not a question of quality. The different tolerance classes are used to achieve the correct running clearance in the assembly. B4 can, for example, be selected when B2 provides insufficient clearance. A difference of only a few microns in roller diameter allows the big end clearance to be adjusted very precisely.

Compatibility:
For engines and crankshafts designed for a 20 x 26 x 15 mm big end needle cage with 16 needle rollers. Always check the crankpin, connecting rod bore and required running clearance before selecting the tolerance class.

Application / Position:
Installed in the connecting rod big end and runs between the connecting rod and crankshaft crankpin.

Installation:
During an engine rebuild, the crankpin diameter, connecting rod bore and roller diameter should always be measured accurately before assembly. Select the correct tolerance class according to the required running clearance. Ensure all components are clean and correctly lubricated during assembly.
