Choosing Guide

  • Micro: Ideal for the smallest karts and compact chassis setups.

  • Mini / Rookie: Suited for youth series and small frame setups.

  • Standard 38/50: Most versatile; choose length based on driver size and kart cockpit.

  • Special 45/55: Great for adjusting steering drop and Ackermann angles – helps on high-precision tracks.

Standard 38/50 (Part Nos. BA8 / BB8 / BC8)

  • Hole centers: 38 mm (top) and 50 mm (bottom).

  • This is OTK’s factory baseline column, giving a neutral Ackermann setup with linear and predictable steering response.

  • It’s easy to set up and works on most tracks, providing stable handling without excessive oversteer or nervous turn-in.

  • Different lengths (470 / 490 / 510 mm) mainly match driver height and driving position.

👉 When to choose Standard?
When you want stable, predictable steering – especially on medium to low grip tracks, where neutral handling helps consistency.

Special 45/55 (Part Nos. F08 / FA8 / FB8)

  • Hole centers: 45 mm (top) and 55 mm (bottom).

  • The uniballs are mounted further out compared to the standard column.

  • This changes the Ackermann angle:

    • Small steering input → less initial steering (smoother turn-in).

    • Large steering input → stronger inner wheel angle (sharper mid-corner rotation).

  • The effect is that the kart becomes less twitchy on entry, while still being able to rotate more in tight corners.

  • Special columns are often used by experienced drivers, or on high-grip tracks where calm steering entry but sharper rotation is needed.

👉 When to choose Special?
When running on high grip conditions, or if the kart feels too aggressive on entry. The Special column provides a more progressive steering feel and additional Ackermann adjustment.

⚖️  In short:

  • Standard = Neutral, safe choice, stable steering.

  • Special = Advanced option, smoother entry + sharper rotation, great for high grip.
